So long, farewell Kwa heri Goodbye
We wrapped up our time in Uganda with a goodbye party with the community... which had its usual level of craziness, starting Friday night as we experienced the packed late night markets in Kampala to bargain down the price of the food. We attempted to act like nothing happened as a rat ran over the bag of rice we were haggling over! The next step was juggling picking up over 70 people from the community in a 10 seater, and collecting food cooked from the early hours of the morning in Kampala. We started our party 3 hours late - at our estimated finish time! Truly African style...We experienced great joy eating together, introducing our friends to each other, and everyone fully entering the spirit with a game of musical chairs, dares and dance offs. Seeing Mama S do the chicken dance was an unforgettable highlight! The kids also enjoyed themselves so much that we found several of them left behind at the end and had to try and match them up with missing parents who had gone home without them!It was a sad time saying farewell but also a joyful one as we realised what good friends we had made in the community and what our time had meant to them. It was a special moment when the community stretched out their hands and prayed for us as we finished. We were honoured that one family even insisted on doing all our dishes before they left! As we have given out, we have received – a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over poured into our lap. (Luke 6:38). As we say our goodbyes our hearts are full and our prayers with the community and the team here in Uganda which will continue the work.
