All Nations Mozambique brings hope to those without families
By Rika Boersma and Llewellyn Oliver
All Nations Mozambique was pioneered in 2005 by Pieter and Rika Boersma. Both Pieter and Rika received a vision of God in a powerful way to go to Mozambique and take care of the orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children of that nation.
After completing the Leadership Development School in 1997 with Floyd and Sally McClung, the Boersmas went to Mozambique and worked for a couple of years with an organization that took care of orphans. This time was a powerful foundation time for what He called them to do in Mozambique. In 2004/2005, they returned to Kansas City and completed their CPx training and then went straight to Mozambique. They started with one home for abandoned babies.
Now, those who were babies and young toddlers when they came to the All Nations Moz family are teenagers and young people with a great desire in their hearts to share Jesus. One of our girls who came when she was two and a half years old, now is a young girl in her teens and has the vision to open houses for vulnerable children and so share the story of Jesus. She was abandoned by her mother and father, left alone at two years old in a hut, with no one to take care of her. Our staff came to hear from the chief of this little girl living all by herself. Never will we forget the day that we picked her up from her little hut and carried her home, welcoming her into her new family — where she was wanted, where she was told that God loves her and has plans for her future.
In 2016, All Nations Mozambique entered a new phase when Pieter Boersma was diagnosed with Leukemia. At that stage, no one was prepared or had any idea what was in store for AN Mozambique. But God did! He took care, to the finest details, every step that lay ahead. To name a few: we witnessed how our Mozambican staff started taking ownership of a vision born in the hearts of the founders, but now taking root in the hearts of those who witnessed it for 11 years. Stephen Jones was already being prepared in CPx (2016) and through many outreach opportunities to other nations, was ready and willing to serve in Mozambique.
Through many years of friendship, discipleship, mentoring and “doing life” with Pieter and Rika and the kids and staff at ANMoz, Llewellyn and Lizé Oliver were ready to step in during the initial crisis moment. At the time, Llewellyn and Lizé were in Cape Town supporting Pieter and Rika, and Stephen had just arrived in Mozambique a month before to help and assist the staff and children. Sadly, Pieter passed away in October 2017. All Nations Mozambique became a ministry that grieved the loss of an amazing man that loved Jesus, a father to the fatherless and a man that was known for his love for the nations. But as the Lord promise in His word, He came and restored, gave beauty for ashes and joy in the place of mourning, through new vision and through the love and joy of the children entrusted to All Nations Moz.
In June 2019, Llewellyn stepped up and took over the legal responsibility for All Nations Mozambique and Lizé and he also finished their formal CPx training. This resulted in a renewed focus on church planting and discipleship within All Nations Mozambique. Although we still see the children entrusted to us as the primary disciples Jesus has called us to, we know that we have to work further, wider and deeper. God gave Rika a vision about the community around Casa Gemma, and we trust that the season to plant specifically into that community is at hand.
We therefore trust God to open the doors to have the very first CPx on Mozambican soil soon — maybe as soon as June! As our hearts, however, are still called to the lost, abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children of Mozambique, we are therefore also working very hard on the completion and opening of Casa Valerio in the very near future. We are thrilled that this house of safety for babies will be a safe place, a place where their souls can be restored, a place where they can heal after abandonment and eventually will lead into adoption to their forever families.
As you can see, All Nations Mozambique is a multifaceted ministry, comprising of 19 paid staff members, three Mozambican leaders, a full time missionary under the joint leadership of Llewellyn, Lizé and Rika — but at the heart of all is to see Jesus worshipped by all peoples of the earth!
