Training has been a big focus for All Nations Cape Town since the beginning — in 2008 Floyd and Sally kicked things off with a 5-month training program for more than 70 people from all over the world. Since that time, we’ve honed in on what is most effective, focusing on equipping people to catalyze movements toward Jesus in places where he isn’t already worshipped.
Currently, our training takes place primarily through CPx, an intensive three-week residential program followed up by nine months of coaching in the field. The internships are where students really put what they have learned into practice. For example, during the internship of our most recent CPx, students shared the gospel with their own communities, gathered discovery groups to learn about Jesus in villages, went on a vision trip to Southeast Asia, and even made initial contact with a totally unreached people group.
In addition to CPx in Cape Town, we also help our field workers as needed in leading CPxes in their own locations. Over the past few years, we’ve seen these trainings multiply across Africa and Asia. Most of these are contextualised trainings, focused on helping believers plant churches and work toward starting a movement in their own or near cultures, while keeping a clear vision for bringing the gospel to the most neglected and unreached people.
Last year we brought several of our key leaders from other African locations together to debrief our trainings over the past decade. One question that we at ANCT had was whether Cape Town should continue running a CPx, or if we should only support those in other field locations. Our leaders in the field answered a resounding “Yes!” Cape Town CPx, they said, gives a cross-cultural aspect that can’t be taught in quite the same way with a local training. Our key African leaders still want to send some of their leaders to our Cape Town CPx in order to be able to better cross cultures and reach some of the nearly 300 unreached people groups still in Africa. So, CPx is still something we are passionate about here at ANCT. We will host our next one March 22 to April 12 at our facility, Africa House. For more information, visit our dedicated CPx page!
