A strange meeting

This week was a great week of ministry. It feels like we are getting into the swing of things as we figure out the culture and how we work together as a team . We discovered a game called "Baow" that seems to be the favorite pastime of the village. We got a hold of a couple boards and have been practicing so we can play with the people. This seems to be a great way to connect with them.A man approached Machiel rather abrasively one day in the market. He demanded to know why he was here and what he wanted to accomplish. He also strangely demanded that Machiel meet him a few days later at his house to tell him. However, the man never showed up for their meeting. Later during the week, the man came to arrange another meeting (again he had been drinking quite a bit). Don and Machiel arrived at the man's house and were welcomed in by his two brothers, the man nowhere to be found. They began wondering if it was even the right house. Nevertheless, they began sharing stories with the two brothers, and eventually the man came to listen as well. His whole attitude softened as he listened. Don and Machiel have continued to meet with this man and his brothers and really feel that the Lord is doing something in his heart!As a team, we have been building relationship with one of the chiefs in the village. He mentioned that we should come and share with him what we were sharing with the people in the village. This eventually led to doing a DBS (discovery bible study) together this past Thursday! We sat in front of his house with his family close by listening, and studied Psalm 23 together. He seemed rather encouraged, and we are looking forward to another meeting soon.
