"to be"

"If you are called as a missionary—a “sent-out one”—then you are called to comfort those who mourn. You are called to love the broken until they understand God’s love—a love that never dies—through you." - Heidi BakerLove in its simplest form can be demonstrated through the word/action "be". It's to be with the sick and dying, to be with the poor and the rich. Simply put it's to be with each other, to be together. This past week has been a week of "being". We have walked far to be with people, even just for a hello, we spent time being with each other and to be with God. Sometimes being with people also means long pauses of awkward silences - we're learning how to master those. Then there are the moments that you can't do anything but 'be'. We came across a moment like this on our very first village walk. The first house we entered we found Mme Elizabeth, lying on the floor in excruciating pain while trying to catching a slim ray of sunlight shining through the doorway. It was obvious that this woman was very sick. So we prayed and in perfect unity felt that this Mme should go to hospital. Buks, the Bakkie was fetched and it wasn't long until our translator, a few locals and Celina were on their way to the hospital.A few days later we went back to check on the Mme. We were overjoyed to find a smiling, walking woman heartily greet us! Her heart was filled with thanks, she kept on saying that if it had not been for us she would surely be dead.As a team we marveled at this. If we didn't have the desire to be here, to be with these people we would never have had the chance to be here for this Mme. Most of all we saw Jesus and His being through this. He wants to be with us, with this Mme, with you! That's how much He loves us - in all simplicity He just wants to be with us, just as we are with each other and others."You are a human being, not a human doing." - MasechabaExcited for this next week of being in Lesotho!
