An unusual invitation
It's been a week of ups and downs as our translators have taken sick with malaria and we also suffered health wise. But we have met some lovely people, and feel like we have started to get to know the community. We have settled into our house; we've got used to the chicken stealing the tomatoes and having to cut the grass to keep the snakes at bay!We had an unusual day yesterday when we were called into a mosque that is being built. As we were leaving the village the workmen hollered after us, saying teasingly 'come and convert us, we want to hear about Jesus!' We decided to take them at their word and went back and introduced ourselves to them. From their shouting they had appeared full of confidence but when we went into the mosque it turned out they were just a bunch of young guys and looked a bit sheepish! They then stopped their work, went quiet, and let us share the story of Zaccheus! Some ignored us but several listened attentively. We are praying for the guys that heard the story and that God would use this opportunity to build relationships. The community is quite scattered so we walk quite far each day – and build relationships as we help to farm, cook, or just by chatting. We have started a few **discovery bible studies (DBS's) with groups of neighbours and relatives. We had one DBS where we had over 4 different languages being translated – one Muslim girl joined us simply to help us translate. We are praying that God works in her life too!We have had many opportunities to pray with people and are looking to God for breakthrough in people's lives and discernment for which people to focus our time on. We're excited to see what happens next with the relationships that have started and that Jesus would keep drawing our attention to the hungry and thirsty. **A small group of people discovering together: how to love God, how to love each other and how to share Jesus with others. They discover together how to hear God, how to share their needs with one another and how to put action into what they heard God speaking.
