Focusing on prayer and intimacy with God

At All Nations Cape Town, we’ve felt led to focus even more on prayer and intimacy with Jesus this year. It’s the source of all our ministry, and one aspect of our lives that can’t be neglected. One ANCT member, Rika Boersma, explains how this emphasis came about for her:

On the first of December, as I was in a conversation with Jesus and asking Him for a word for 2021, He told me 2021 will be: The Year of the Awakening.

I remember sitting for a moment, mind baffled. I replied: “The awakening, Lord? Oh goodness, I am so excited Jesus, how can I partner with You in this word? How will this happen? How will the awakening come?” He answered: “Prayer.”

I suddenly understood that 2021 will be a year of prayer, of creating a culture of prayer, a lifestyle of prayer, more than ever before. I also sensed that this is not just a word for myself, but for my friends, my community and for the nations. BUT that it starts in one’s own heart. When we cultivate a culture of prayer, it can become so contagious that it ignites fire in hearts all around us.

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray....’
— Luke 11:1

So my prayer is: “Teach me how to pray, Jesus, and give me a longing for You more than ever before.” And He who is faithful is busy teaching me and I am super excited for this journey of prayer in 2021 that will lead to the Awakening. If you would like to join me in this journey of exploring prayer, please send me a private message.
