New discipleship school launched in the islands
Two All Nations Cape Town members are helping launch a new discipleship school in the islands.
“Our outcome is basically discipleship,” ANCT member Frank said. “But we hope that [the students] will engage and they will start groups.”
Frank and his wife Marie are partnering with people from another organization to make this training available to community members who are working full time. The program — which takes place in the local language — will last five months and take place one evening a week, plus one full weekend day per month. The training will begin by focusing on discipleship and gathering into small Discovery Bible Studies, as well as multiplication and sharing the Gospel.
Two years ago, there was a big evangelism and prayer push in these islands, which led to some exciting fruit across many social networks. Some of those involved started making progress, Frank said, reaching out to others with the Gospel and starting Discovery Bible Study groups.
“But overall,” Frank said, “we realized that discipleship is really a priority if we want to go forward with all of them.”
So this is the first step trying to more intentionally disciple and train these disparate groups, helping them reach the next level of fruitfulness in their ministry.
There are 19 students in this school, most of whom do not come from a Christian background. The hope is that students will put what they are learning into practice. Those with growing fruit will then be able to be coached after this training is finished, continuing to grow in their ministries. They may also create a second-level training school for these students that would focus more on Church Planting Movement strategy.
