"We Won't Forget That DBS"

This week began with two memorable DBS tunes. The first was at a house of a husband and wife that we are very excited about! This was our second time doing DBS at their house, and we will never forget it. The couple had graciously invited us into their home to begin the study. Machiel was leading when a few of the team members noticed two very large rats running along the paneling in the ceiling. We were all trying our absolute best to ignore them and stay focused on the study. Just when Machiel asked, "what does this passage say about man?" one of the gigantic rate fell onto the bible in his lap and proceeded from there to run across Jordan's lap and jumped near to where Jessica was sitting. In that moment, I'm not sure if any of our feet were on the floor. We jumped straight out our chairs! Everyone had a good laugh, and we were able to finish the DBS without any other issues.

The second DBS was with a woman Jessica and Jordan have been meeting with. They studied a part of scripture talking about loving one another. Jessica and Jordan had been talking about asking to wash this woman's feet that day, but they were a little unsure since she had invited a new friend this time. They decided to go ahead and just ask to wash all three of the ladies' feet, and the women agreed! When Jessica and Jordan had finished washing their feet, one of the women said, "wait, now we want to wash yours!" After she washed Jessica's feet, the visiting friend motioned Jordan to sit down and said, "I want to wash too!" It was such a beautiful time for everyone involved. We were so encouraged to see these women stepping out in this way as well.

On Wednesday, the team took a trip to Lake Malawi for a little fun and rest time. The Lord provided an incredible house along the lake (that's another story) for us to spend two nights at. We had a wonderfully refreshing time just being in a different environment for a little while. We even got to take a small catamaran out and shared a small picnic on the middle of the lake. This time was filled with lots of laughter! We are so grateful for this opportunity, and we have returned to the village ready to go again.
