Spiritual Conversations and Open Doors

Last week, Jordan and Jessica met Muslim woman whose family recently moved to the village. She seemed open to talk about spiritual things. We later found out that her husband is a Christian. On Monday, we went back to meet with both of them and the husband seems very hungry for more truth. He had been seeking a "fellowship" to join, so we eagerly told him about DBS. Unfortunately, it didn't work to start this week, by we are really looking forward to see where the relationship goes in the future.

On Tuesday, Machiel and Don met a man close to the market. He quickly realized that they were Christians and began sharing his understanding of who Jesus is. He had a thorough understanding of the Quran, which led to a good spiritual conversation. Don and Machiel listened for a while as he shared about Islam, but the man soon asked to hear their stores as well. They each shared a Jesus story--Don sharing about the criminals next to Jesus on the cross. The man quickly connected the criminals' questions with the ability to choose how humans view Jesus. He seemed rather interested in meeting again to discuss more.

On Wednesday evening, the pastoral team (Shane and Ewald) arrived in the village! It was a joy to show them around and talk about the exciting friendships that have sprung up from our time here. We had an encouraging time of team debrief on Friday as well. Shane and Ewald seemed to bring new life in the short time they were here. Each evening was filled with lots of laughter and good conversation. As a team, we were strengthened and re-envisioned by their presence, and we are ready to finish strong!
